Meet Dr. Mehta
Dr. Dharmesh Mehta is a double board-certified physician in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and has been involved in the pain management field for more than 15 years. Unlike other pain management physicians, Dr. Mehta is not only at the cutting edge of the pain management specialization, he is also an avid contributor to its advancement through his work as an investigator on numerous clinical trials and research papers.
Dr. Mehta received his board certifications in 2005 and 2006 and studied at more than seven different institutions in his early years as a physician developing his skillset and knowledge base to one day provide his own patients with high-quality care. During this time, he completed a Fellowship at the prestigious Institute of Pain Management and a Residency at the Case Western-Metro Health Medical Center’s Department of Anesthesiology. He has accumulated more than 20 years of experience in the medical field.
More than five years ago, Dr. Mehta moved to Southern California with his wife and two daughters. When he arrived, he founded Foothills Pain Management Clinic in the hopes of being able to serve the communities that welcomed him and his family.
He uses his vast knowledge of pain management and extensive experience in musculoskeletal medicine to determine the cause of his patient’s conditions with great accuracy. Once identified, he is able to implement the latest interventional techniques to treat all the different facets of pain that his patients experience. Offering this level of care is why he works hard to remain on the forefront of the pain management field; every patient he has is able to benefit and live a little better because of that dedication.
This also leads him to believe in a comprehensive pain management approach, which includes the philosophy that, in order to be successful in treating the patient’s chronic pain, the patient themselves needs to be proactive in their care and become part of the Foothills Pain Management Clinic team. This belief is why so many patients feel at home with his practice — because they know they are as valued a participant in their wellness as any employee in the office.
He also believes that a conservative pain management strategy is much more beneficial than jumping to the highest level of treatment. These conservative strategies include physical therapy, occupational therapy, aquatic therapy, rehabilitation, behavioral therapy (biofeedback, pain coping skills, etc.), and co-adjuvant pain medications as needed.
If conservative treatments do not yield any improvements in the patient’s pain, then Dr. Mehta may turn to non-surgical treatments at one of our offices. These procedures, which include the usage of state-of-the-art technology, include Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS), radiofrequency ablation (RFA), and Intrathecal Pain Pumps.
Throughout his career, Dr. Mehta has been credited in more than 15 different medical publications and abstracts, ranging in topics from chronic heart failure to hypothermia treatments.
When he isn’t caring for patients or researching the newest pain management developments, Dr. Mehta can be found spending quality time with his family. He enjoys playing croquet and watching football and soccer in his spare time.
Dr. Mehta takes extreme pride in making himself available to all of his patients when he is needed. He is also very accessible to other physicians and will make every effort to accommodate urgent requests at one of his offices in Covina, West Covina, Rancho Cucamonga, Pomona, or Los Angeles, or in one of the 11 hospitals he is staffed.
